The MAAD was asked to participate in the Book Machine project at the Le Nouveau festival du Centre Pompidou, Paris, in February 2013.

Book Machine was an event initiated by the One Star Press, dedicated to the process of book production in the grandest sense. The general public were invited to bring their own content for a three hour long session with a designer. During the session designer and collaborator took the content on a journey from loose ideas to the concrete realisation of a printed book. The books where printed on demand in the south of France, and were presented three days after each session.

This was a live event where visitors witnessed a daily array of visual artists, writers and designers creating their books, in the office of book production. There was also a live feed projection of the printing process and various events, lectures, discussions, screenings and performances connected with the concept of the artist’s book.
